Thank you for partnering with us as we pursue church planting and theological education in Ethiopia. For over 10 years, the Lord has placed a desire for international missions in my and Sabrina’s and hearts. And in His kindness, He is working to fulfill these desires. This summer, our family is planning to move to the mission field of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I just wanted to take a moment to further introduce you to our plans and goals in this transition.
We have three mail objectives
1. Church Planting:
Ever since Paul and Barnabas were sent out by the church in Antioch (Acts 13), God has been sending out missionaries from local churches to plant local churches. This is the mission we hope to see God continue in Addis Ababa. Sovereign Grace Church of Louisville is sending a team of 9 missionaries to plant this church in the Summer of 2020.
Josh will be working closely with lead pastor Michael Granger in providing theological and original language assistance. He will also be teaching and providing supplementary preaching at the church. Sabrina will be working with women in the church in discipleship and evangelism roles.
2. Theological Education:
Part of Jesus’ commands in the Great Commission was to “teach everything that I have commanded.” We hope to pursue this work in Addis Ababa. Josh has been invited to teach two classes per semester at Evangelical Theological College, beginning in the Fall of 2020. He will also be working closely with Michael to develop future contexts for pastoral and theological training in the church.
3. Long-Term Consideration:
We will be spending two years serving in the Ethiopian church plant. After that, we plan to return to the states for about a year to reflect on our time in Addis and to ask the Lord if he would desire for us to return indefinitely. Josh also hopes to use this time back in the states to work on on his ordination in Sovereign Grace Churches. Should all go as planned, we hope to rejoin the Grangers for the foreseeable future in the Summer of 2024.
